it starts at my toes & then i crinkle my nose ! ! !WHERE EVER IT GOES, I ALWAYS KNOW Ivory Isles; Such a lovely sounding place, but deceiving. It was a cruel place, designed to lull you into safety, as it's vile terrain made vile plots against your flesh. One could argue that it was the creatures that inhabited it that made it so dangerous, but she knew better than that. They were simply the teeth in this shark's mouth, just another gear in the factory of death they had all come to know as Ivory. It seemed to only get stranger and stranger everyday, and it didn't show any signs of mellowing.
It was so deceiving, however; Everything on it was carefully constructed to kill you, to peak your curiosity. Ivory had you by it's tongue, and all it had to do is drag and gulp - and you were doomed, in places worse than hell could ever be. She wanted to fall for those traps, to be the Alice to the island's rabbit hole, and just fall down to see the horrific wonders within, surrounded with things that wanted to kill her. She wanted to be part of it, the island's best friend, and it may hurt, it may even kill her; but pain was just another another loop on this rollercoaster.
She knew why she felt this way. Ivory was alreayd, in a way, her friend. The shy girl was never one to approach first, and as it seemed, the place was perfectly willing to be the one to take the first step. It had kidnapped her, ripped her out of that tortured portrait of her cracked family, and brought her into a new world. It wasn't so much different; It was much like back home, those dangers hidden behind a mask of innocence. She had a tendency to be pulled back into the same situations, but so did everyone. It was just human nature to do so.
So, she'd been pulled into the fire of Ivory, directly into the eye of the flame. She had fallen for the sights. She had fallen for the people. She had fallen for everything, as her legs spread across the white sands of the South West Beach, the sun beating down on her, unforgiving and forboding with it's warm light. She smiled, because she loved the way it hurt. She was ready, as the waves crashed to the shore in a wave of white water, for Ivory to consume her. For Ivory to kill her.
She knew people would hurt her, but it had been happening all her life. She'd long grown used to the pain, even if it was a diffrent flavor, it was all still pain in the end, and no matter how you flavor it, it would always be bittersweet. Who cared anymore? She was ready for vulnerability. She had accepted that, as she laid down in the sand, as it ruffly scraped at her skin, her pale skin finally buzzing at the sensation of the sun up above. She knew Ivory stood above her, lighter in hand, smile on it's face. It was oging to light her on fire, and it's only reaction would be that calm, emotionless laughter.
But it's all right, because I love the way it hurts.

But oh what was that? Ears pricked as they tuned into some noise that a normal human wouldn’t be able to catch. There was a disturbance on the shoreline… something no.. someone was out there. A nightmarish grin pulled up pink lips, revealing white teeth. A pretty normal smile for the average mortal but if you look closer the incisors were slightly more pointed, slightly more sharpened then a normal person’s teeth. The difference wasn’t that bad, which helped keep the secret, which helped draw in the poor victim. Ah yes, the victim. The creature moved closer towards the noise. It wasn’t that loud, not too demanding of attention but it just so happened on that particular day that the hunter was looking for prey and even the tiniest bit of noise would alert her. By default, the huntress was not a horrific beast that took pride in tearing the flesh off the prey who just so happened to be a living being who was almost just like her. No, she felt sorry for the poor soul but knew no other alternative to her life style. Sure she would take a break and try to eat foliage but it never filled her up, never did any good to stop the thunderous rumbling of her stomach which its self was a caged beast that would never be satisfied until the warm rusty taste of human blood was gushing through the creature, filling her up along with the soft squishy flesh. The huntress shuddered just thinking of the bloody organs that she would soon claim from this unsuspecting fool. Whoever came up with the saying ‘Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf?’ Must have never met a kelpie.
Compared to a wolf Kelpies were like Satan, heck compared to any living creatures Kelpies were Satan. They drowned their victims and ate them while they were partially alive. Well that was how this huntress went about her business. She liked to savor their meat while they were still kicking and screaming. No one would suspect a horse eating them, no horses where thought of as graceful creatures, sweet little things that certainly wouldn’t devour your soul. Who knew a human type creature dwelled within some of them, blackening their souls, becoming a monster as they hunted fair maidens or knights in shining amour. However, women were preferred in this little palomino’s menu. Men were too salty or tough, but women were more softer, easier to rip apart. The monster grin was there, showing what hideous creature lurked underneath the tanned skin of the pretty girl, as wild blue eyes made contact with the soon to be meal. The thoughts that swirled around where like nightmares coming alive to the girl that had to face this monster every day, the monster that told her to go out and kill someone. It was easier now though, on this island that is. No one had family, no one had any ties, it was easier to take them that way when she knew no one would lay awake at night crying over them. I t was easier to stomach it, knowing most of these people wanted to die.
The huntress didn’t dare reveal herself in her human form, no she’d rather get the girl in the water when she was already a horse. It was simpler that way, but it was funny to watch the victim’s eyes go wide in fear as they watched the once human girl turn into a horse. She loved the face they made, loved the screams ringing in her ears as she tore into them. No! Maddie bit her lip, causing the metallic taste of blood to flow into her mouth bringing her out of her trance. That was someone else, something else that liked all those things, not her. No, she hated it all, the curly headed blonde started to turn away, to walk back to her little niche in the island she had found where no one else came. The niche was where the youth focused on controlling her urge to drown the petty humans. So far it wasn’t out too well which was very bad for the bleach head blonde down on the shore laying there, totally open to any assault. Maddie’s stomach grumbled savagely and the instincts overwhelmed trivial human ideals. The huntress pulled off her clothes, not wanting to rip them when she changed into her horse form. Quickly the blonde shuddered, imaging the open depths of the ocean, the lull off the sea as powerful hooves churned in the water, maneuvering easily in the murky depths.
It didn’t hurt when her bones widened, some shortening others growing. It didn’t hurt when fingers fused together changing shape until glossy hooves where in their place. She loved the adrenaline rushing through her veins, loved the feel of her skin expanding over new muscles which rippled under her course short hair. The change in all actuality took more or less than twenty seconds and then where once stood Maddie Harlen Knight was now a sweet innocent looking palomino horse. The monster screamed inside and Maddie began to pick her way lazily over towards where Ghost lay, not trying to draw attention to herself she swished her tail, acting like any normal horse. When she reached the girl she nosed her head, snorting when Ghost’s smell flooded her scent glands. God she smelt good. Maddie’s velvet nose brushed the girl’s cheek, nibbling at it softly. She tasted just as good too.

it starts at my toes & then i crinkle my nose ! ! !WHERE EVER IT GOES, I ALWAYS KNOWGhost's heart screamed against her, thumping wildly in her chest, as if it already knew her fate; Ghost wasn't sure if she should have trusted it, but here she was, her blue eyes gazing into the corners of the sunny beach. She hated how that, even in these bright, sun-drowned days of the summer, there was a dark corner, telling her that no place would ever truly be safe for the frail shifter. Anything could lurk in there, and that's what she hated, that there were a million creatures just willing to kill her; even a few of her own kind, the big wolves thta stalked around, so hungry they could cannibalize on one of their own.
It was cruel fate that she had gotten stuck with a deer, a peaceful animal that couldn't nor wouldn't ever do anything to harm anyone, and simply sitting ducks for the vicious carnivores around her. She supposed she had someone to connect to, her mother, but even then Elsie Vigrid hadn't been a shifter all her life. Not that she needed the animal form to defend herslef, anyways, being the hefty woman she was with meaty fists like a christmas ham. She used to be the image of feminine beauty, the object of desire in all the small California town's boys; It was amazing the way a marriage could influence a woman, the loss of love driving her into obesity as she just stopped caring how she looked. It must have been horrible to watch, but Ghost never took notice. It was her mother, and she loved her with all her heart.
Ghost had been attacked by all manners of creatures in her short life time, with their tongues hanging out their mouths, their teeth and stomachs lusting after just a bite of her sweet meat. She couldn't imagine that they'd only eat her, being the lithe girl she was. She had long grown used to the company of wolves, her father being one himself, though even then she could see some times where he looked like he was fighting himself not to eat her. Recently, she had gotten used to vampires as well, after all, it couldn't have been too crazy considering what she was herself. But even when she thought she had it all figured out, there were still mysteries left in this world.
But in all her knowledge, she wopuld have never felt fear in the serene form of a horse. She'd always loved the things, remembering those sunny days on her uncle's farm, and she felt so free on it's back and she wished that she would never have to get off, simply run on that horse until they both died. Her heart hopped as she saw the beautiful beast, not aware of the monster that lied within, as she spoke beautiful words to the horse. "You're beautiful...", she said to Maddie, as she rubbed her soft hands over the horse's face, before wrapping her arms around it's neck, letting out a shriek of enjoyment. She felt in such bliss around the things, nothing could quite match up to the joy she felt at the moment.
It may have been a stupid, foolish idea, but she began to hop on the horse, straddling her as she closed her hands around it's body. She struggled to keep her balance, usually having the comfort of something to hold on to, and without a saddle the horse's back felt uncomfortable. But she didn't care, as she got ready to take off into the sun, not knowing that Maddie had no intention of staying on land.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Mortals. What a sick joke to the world. Worthless little brutes, that dare take up space and breath the same air as she! The only good thing for them was to set them up like little puppets, wait until they think they have a footing in the world and snip the string. Watch them fall from their high pedestals into the dirt caked ground. That right there was entertainment, to watch the golden child fall… watch him crumpled on the ground reaching out for the unthinkable, reaching out for the drugs, the alcohol the hate and murder. It was like a MTV Reality show, ya right! MTV was shit and this… this was something totally different, a nightmare twisted into a dream. So sweet but sour to the other party, it was wonderful beyond wonderful actually. It drove the huntress insane, watching a broken pale little creature wither on the floor in utter failure, watching them flounder in their own puddle of self pity. That was the dark creatures incentive to tear them apart, to mangle and break their bodies, show them what real pain was like. Such weak little things those humans, certainly not worth her time, but her diet was in need of them so it best to kill the dirty mites. Actually it was very fun to kill them, very exhilarating, leaving the monster with a head-rush and oodles of adrenaline gushing in her system. Saliva coated the inside of the horse’s mouth, pooling as the girl laid her fingers on Maddie. So close so very close.
This would be easy, so easy that the huntress almost game up her current game in search of a mortal that would put up a struggle. That was fun, always fun to toy with her little puppets, to pull their strings and see what things made them break. She got bored so easily wandering about the barren lands of Ivory, never knowing when she’d run into something scarier than her. Maddie wasn’t stupid; she knew there were things on this island that was borne of shadows and blood… daimons. They were nasty creatures with a terrible personality and pretty looks. What a horrid match up, God and his dirty tricks. With his little meaningless humans who held no real importance but food and then those dark creatures from the pits of hell who acted like they were constantly on their period… God must have a really fucked up mind.
She was brought back to the present once again by the bleach head, the beautiful new little toy that would soon be in pieces. Such a waste this one did have a pretty face; the monster’s stomach groaned like a ship who has too much stress put on it by the crashing waves of a hurricane. Such a waste, but it was for a good cause, Maddie reminded herself taking control once more over the black monster that dwelled in her heart. This control was short lived and soon the shadow creature stretched its psychotic leech like grip back on Maddie’s conscious putting a black haze in her mind full of fury and pain, suffocating any stupid human ideals from stopping this feeding. Once more it was easy to get to the little girl, easy to take control of the situation. The huntress felt at power, as she nuzzled the human affectionately showing all was well and no hard would come to the youth. This was the most wonderful disguise ever thought up, to be hidden in the flesh of a horse. A monster awaiting the next blood bath on the inside but to everyone else it was a pretty gentle beast just waiting to be stroked and feed. What a bunch of shit. Muscles rippled under the tan hide as Ghost’s light touch danced over it, smoothing the hair as she felt the horse. This was it, it was all going to work out after this single moment. The horse shuddered under Ghost’s touch, growing weak at the human’s delicate hand. The saliva was still pooling in the brute’s mouth, her taste buds were on a high as flashes of Ghost’s open corpse ran through the beast’s mind. Oh yes, what a very fun way to survive, killing others in gruesome fashion, leaving their bones to the fish. The water crashed down on beach, wiping away any imprints left on the sandy shore. The horse’s ears flicked forward, swiveling to the back as Ghost gained confidence, leaning heavy on the palomino’s side as she hesitated, debating if she should get on the creature’s back. The huntress sucked in a breath of air, this was it! How easy, just like stealing candy from a baby… She hadn’t had a baby in a long while. Adreline ripped through her veins, of course Ghost would climb aboard the pony express, excepting to ride along the beach like any princess’s dream. Well Maddie had another idea, and this was more like a princess’s nightmare.
The horse curved it’s neck towards Ghost, using her nose to butt the girl, urging to get on. The smell was so intoxicating that the kelpie nipped at the girl, and it took all her courage to make it seem like good natured nips instead of the kind that scream run away I’m about to kill you! She waited patiently as Ghost scrambled onto her back, did this kid not know anything? If Maddie ever came across a stray horse on some hell like island she wouldn’t dare get even close to the thing! A wild beast that could stomp you to death did not seem like the ideal pet. Luckily for Ghost this horse was rather tame on ride to the water, but I can’t say anything for what happens in the murky depths. The kelpie threw back her head and let out a whinny sort of like a laugh, pride swelled in her chest. One meal to go, please! The horse snickered and began to trot, acting like they were going to take a nice little jaunt across the beach. Acting, that was what Maddie had had in mind for her career and now look at her! Luring pretty little things to their death! If only she could tell mother that those acting classes she had begged her mother to get her hadn’t been a waste of time and money! Look at me now mom! Oh wait forgot…I ate those pretty little eyes of yours. The monster inside the horse thought, her mother had been the first victim. Last summer in the pool... Maddie’s mind flashed back to that unforgettable day for a moment but then the weight of Ghost caused her attention to spin back into the future, her stomach rumbling and drool practically frothing. The horse began to gallop, she’d have to move fast to get into the water without Ghost trying to stop her, it’d have to be quick and swift before petty ideals came into play. The horse reached the water and swiftly trotted in, moving easily in the current unlike most land creatures.
The horse maneuvered so that Ghost slipped into the waters they were far enough away from shore it’d be easy to rip her heart out without that much of a struggle. The beast had found out that humans had a very hard time swimming in one place for a long period of time and quickly grew tired, maybe that’d be fun to watch. Maybe the horse would let Ghost drown her own self… Nope. The palomino kicked at the girl nipping her arm, but not bothering to conceal it now. No it was time to put away this game and start the real thing. The horse grabbed hold of the girl’s shoulder and yanked, tearing into flesh and muscle, savoring the blood as it sent her on a high. Maddie screamed on the inside when the first hints of blood tainted her taste buds.
The beast roared though, bellowing as it dug into its victim. Maddie's screams were quickly drown out as teeth bit into soft flesh, tearing it apart, letting vital organs slip into the sea. What a waste, what a terrible waste of this girl. But it was life.

it starts at my toes & then i crinkle my nose ! ! !WHERE EVER IT GOES, I ALWAYS KNOWShe should have taken it as a sign as the hrose's teeth nipped her. She should have hopped off that horse immediantly and never ride one again. She should have ran, screaming her fucking head off at that first sign of danger, leaving the beach and never looking back.
But it was too late; her fate had been long written in stone, and her life was simply a line that she was waiting in, and now it was time to get on the rollercoaster that would be the end of her. She didn't know that, though, nor did she care too much if it did happen. Her life was worth nothing, would it be so bad if she died, just another mortal in a million? So, Ghost didn't take that first omen, as she snuggled onto the back of Maddie, nuzzling her nose against the horse's snout. Thta first omen taht could have saved her, but as soon as she landed on that horse, there was no turning back. Ghost was going to die.
She giggled, simply taking the nip as a playful gesture, not an act of bloodlust. She couldn't help but dive back against the horse's neck, hands wrapping around the warm tan fur. Without warning, and like a car spinning out of control, the horse brust into movement, jerking her back and nearly knocking her off it's back. "Whoah, girl, hold on!", she laughed, as she struggled to get a good grip around the beast. Her body rocked, back and forth, as the horse continued int's rampage, trampling along and kicking up the snow white sands in a dust storm around it's legs. It didn't seem to make any sound other than the steady beat of it's hooves against the gorund, but Ghost didn't mind, as she was lost in bliss; simply enjoying the simplistic joy in running down that beach, wind sweeping against her skin and through her white-blonde hair, unaware, unsure, and uncaring of her destiny or fate. Free, of all the worries of the world, if just for a few minutes when the ride stopped and she leapt off. Or, that's what she thought.
She didn't react immediantly, liek she should have. She didn't attack the horse, booting it with a quick hoove of her animal form liek she should have. She didn't do anything to get off, like she should have. No, her eyes remained closed shut, as she enjoyed the tickling licks of the wind against her face. She had no idea where they were anymore. Whys hould she care? This was utter happiness, a feeling she had forgotten after landing on this island, and not sure if she ever quite knew. Maybe her life was a lie up to this point, and she ahd just begun living. She had no idea how wrong she was, not aware that her life had ended the minute she had gotten on Maddie's soft back.
She was awoken from her thoughts of bliss and happiness with the wet smack of the sand, her head surrounded by sizzling salt water. She stayed silent for jsut a second, not sure what was going on, as she just burst out of the water, blue eyes widened in horror and mind in a jumble at what had just happened. She looked up at the horse, which stood triumphantly above her, wondering exactly what was happening, as she struggled to fight the strong waves and fight the current. Like a cat in water, she could have just killed the hooved monster for throwing her in there, but it seemed she was going to get beat to it, as the hooves connected with her throat in a crack. She struggled to scream, as yet another strong kick hit her in the waist, as she could feel her pelvis splinter and her hips sting with pain. She finally let out a scream, albeit one in vain, noticing that no one was on the beach that day.
She looked up, one more time, as she felt her lungs and every muscle in her body screaming for her to get away, but to no avail. She tried to scoot away, but the waves brough her back, and she could only stare in thinly veiled horror as the horse drew it's ivory teeth torwards her thin shoulder, ripping out a bit of bloody meat as if it were stuck on her with nothing more than a gluestick. Her pretty, obsidian hooves dances about her chest, and she could hear her rips bend back and snap in her chest like fragile little twigs, as he heart struggled to pump blood fast enough to keep the pure adrenaline that was going through her body from consuming it all the way. She coudl only gasp once, more, letting out a shriek, "STOP!", she screamed, her shrill voice having no authority, foolishly thinking she could reason with the creature, which was neither woman nor monster, but something inbetween that made it all the more worse. She could only spit out a gulp of blood as she dug into her belly, ripping apart the soft flesh.
She could only let out a gasp, the iron stench of her sanguine staining her smell. Her hand reached up to grasp Maddie in one final attempt at attack, but at last, fell limp as her organs went spilling into the sea. The water around her stained red, she wondered if she was going to heaven or hell. It didn't matter, though, as she wasn't going to be remembered, nothing more than a meal. A smile dotting her face, as she sweared she saw the pearly gates of Heaven, she drifted off into death's cold grip. Her time had come.
