After so long on the island a routine had been established, so much exciment in the most recent time had served to disrupt the quiet peace that Talbot had gotten use to over time. She stayed away from it, the sinkhole, the ship...a gut feeling telling her that nothing good could come from it, a second voice in the back of her head sheilding her from harm selfishly as her curiosity attempted to get the better of her.
Her restlessness had grown, every morning waking up more exhausted than the next, sleeping in later till the sun was high up, staying out later in the dark of the night. Though the young woman knew the things on this island were not the safest she didn't feel threatened as the skies grew overcast, the sun setting beneath the horizon of the island. Tonight was no different, the last bits of crimson and gold light holding out on the waters as the deep violet and blue of twilight set in...Talbot lingered at the top of the waterfall, looking out from the tall rocks. The water was cold as it splashed over, the spray soaking her jeans as she balanced on the edge.
She'd watched others below, swimming, some hunting, some simply discovering the island like she'd done what seemed ages ago now. At the thought of newcomers her fingers went down to her backpocket and the little book that had now held all that was precious to her. All the material goods that lingered on the makeshift shelfs, against the walls of her home meant little to her as long as she had her letter, her maps and notes...
Few answers had come to her in her time here, but she felt more at ease with not knowing as it seemed that time was only creeping along, and no one was going anywhere. All that she did know was that the island had its games to play with those living here, and it was only a matter of time until she would become a player as well.
Shaking herself out of her thoughts she turned away now from the sight streched out before her, moving off the rocks carefully. Shaking out the water as best she could the girl pulled her jacket tighter around her and started back the faded path from the edge of the waterfall. Perhaps tonight she would go visit with Ophelia again, the company comforting on a night like this...or maybe she'd finally gain the courage to risk the wolf Nero and see the island's witch, a person that the few she'd talked to seemed to consider a force of knowledge and power on this island to be reckoned with.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - So much had been wrong lately. When the boat had crashed onto shore, Lilith had sensed the death and decay within. His lover and his men had gone in to loot the treasures- jewels and alcohol. Subconciously, Lilith put a hand to the diamonds that covered his neck. So lavish and foolish, but even he was swayed by the promises of beauty and rarity.
And, currently, no one else ont he island could claim to have came across such fortune. Nonetheless, Lilith wasn't afraid to walk alone. He knew that Nero didn't like it when he wandered about by himself. The island was dangerous, they both knew that- even if they acted like the self appointed king and queen of the lands. There were many things even they didn't know.
Lilith's current purpose for being out and about was restlessness and frustration. He kept the red sphere he'd made himself in his hands, awaiting news of the scavengers that had set out in order to find the lost group. Currently, he was out two daimons: Envy and Pride. They'd been lost, and despite their contract, he couldn't sense them. For a witch who considered himself all-powerful, it was very frustrating to find his power being negated.
This was the whole reason that Lilith had ventured out. He didn't feel like staying cooped up any longer. He wanted to get out, get some fresh air... He had found himself at the waterfall by pure chance. His layers of sheer black material (which subsequently actually covered him because it was so layered) blew in the gusts of wind. He lept, barefoot, across the rocks, his lithe body making him appear like a water nymph- a fae of sorts of the waters, very mystic and enchanting.

Moment caught the corner of her eyes as Talbot moved down along the path near the falls itself, the water coated the pathway, grass and dirt slick, rocks jutting out in a sort of makeshift stairs down from the cliff. She stopped, watching ahead at the figure, the last bits of light catching the gauze like cloth just as dark as the shadows.
Moving down a little faster she kept against the rocks, watching as she recognized the blond hair, familiar delicate body, those eyes even from where she stood. The beast inside of her unfurls a little as she gave a sniff of the air, her gaze looking for the sight of the black wolf she'd seen at the festival before.
"Those rocks are dangerous, might be easy, but it takes one wrong step and no one knows where you went." She spoke up, watching.
"You're the witch of this island, are you not? One of the few people here with control in this place. I've been trying to find it in me to look for you." Talbot moved up onto the rocks again, something telling her it was safe to linger as she visibly relaxed, "I never figured I'd just accidentally run into you around this island."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - He should have guessed that his day of peace would be interrupted, though he had hoped it was because there was some news from one of the scavenger groups, not because he was being questioned (and lectured it seemed.) He looked at the girl dully and blinked once, not needing to speak to reprimand her for her choice of words to him. A witch did not "slip", not one with his perfect balance.
Deciding a lecture really wasn't worth his time, he listened to the girl's words and contemplated her motives. "If it's information you seek, you will not find it for free." he told her. A witch always had a price for their services. Of course, depending on the information she wanted, the price would vary greatly. His words were matter-of-fact, as if she should have known this if she chose to approach him.
And when she said that she didn't think she'd run into him out here, he gave a short laugh. "It was by chance, I assure you." While he didn't seem particularly interested in their conversation thusfar, he was at least talking to her, and for Lilith to not already be ignoring her meant that he might actually be paying attention to what she had to say- or ask, rather. All the girl could do now would be to press her luck.
His bright eyes glanced back down to the sphere he held. Still nothing. What was taking them so long? There were only so many placed on this island that the group could be, weren't there? One might ask why Lilith hadn't gone himself. He wasn't lazy, no, but he would rather put others in danger as opposed to him. They were expendable- he was not.

To Talbot, if the witch's words could change the air they would have made it cold enough to freeze one's breath. She stood there, looking at him with a rather disenchanted look, from afar at the festival, and even before she'd spoken with him the witch seemed something less human, but the behavior was only just that it seemed...human.
"Payment for information...that works it seems. I'm not sure what I can do to pay you for anything, but I can only assume that being who you are you probably don't need money. Really I just wanted to talk with you since you seem to be the one person that knows more about this place than anyone." She sat down on the rocks, her own gaze looking at what Lilith seemed to busy with. "I found my way all the way out to this island for answers, and it seems that there's only more questions." She stretched a little.
"For all that I've dealt with here it seems the only reason I came was to end up in more trouble than I began in. I don't know what you want in return, but I'm just looking for some answers as to just who I am, and perhaps who might have tried to bring me here." She tilted her head back, looking up at the sky above. Her hand moved to her pocket, fiddling with the book once more, the worn edges pressing against her fingertips. "I really am not sure just how powerful or all knowing you really are, but if you know anything then I'm willing to pay any price."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - While she spoke, he ran his hand over the small globe and watched as the light illuminated the air in front of him. Static- that's all it ever was, no messages for him to play, nothing. It was true that the fact that the people had disappeared for him to not be able to locate them was disturbing in of itself. Certainly it wasn't another witch, he would have sensed the presence of one-- one of them would already be dead.
As soon as she said she had come to the island seeking answers, his eyes snapped towards her and his gaze narrowed as he looked at her suspiciously. Then, he relaxed all too quickly. Little did she know that he had done a scan of her mind in that short second, a small, uninvasive form of magic (so long as he didn't try to pry too deeply), but he couldn't see anything suspicious, not even in anything she'd tried to repress. It wasn't what he was looking for, in any case.
But, the fact remained she'd come here of her own will. Perhaps naively so, but the poor girl didn't know what she was getting herself into. "That would be the first I've heard of someone coming here of their own volition,", he didn't sound quite intrigued, but rather... suspicious. "This has been my home for as long as I can remember. I've watched people come, but never anyone go-- no one whos body didn't wash ashore within a few days. The island was completely deserted when I was born here. My mate arrived shortly after myself. I can assure you I know more than anyone else, Miss Garret."
His mind continued to seem preoccupied by the sphere. "Go on, ask what it is you want to know. I will take from you whatever I deem fit, but I can assure you that it will be fair- there are some questions I may refuse to answer, and you will not be penalized for those."

Hearing her name before she could introduce herself, it was an impressive trick, whatever the other had done...but Talbot had decided long after her fight with the wolf that seemed always by the witch's side that being intimidated by something on this island would only do more harm then good. Still it bothered her that somehow Lilith had gotten to know that without her telling. It didn't bode well if thoughts could be plucked out from the mind before she could voice them.
"Yes, I seem to be the only one...a fact that has left me rather curious as to who might have wanted me to come here. Everyone was brought here against their wills, but I came out this far and then suddenly an island where no map tells of it, and where no ship goes except for the unfortunate one. I've met creatures I never knew existed, and I've seen a lot of impossible things." She sighed, pulling out the book as it seemed the witch would take her seriously. From the pages she pulled the thick letter, the ink scrawled across it with drawings and words...
"I was sent instructions I guess you would say, and they told me that I would find answers here without telling me what questions to ask. I assumed it was about my birth mother," That had been her hope for the months she planned, the money she spent to get out this far...all of that to find a person who didn't want her but still left the teasure map. That hope had all but vanished now, dwindling down to an ache of memories never given, of answers that she'd always assumed would make her understand herself better. There had always been a question of just what was beyond the surface, like she didn't even know her own mind. "I--something happened a while ago, and I guess one of my first questions should be if I'm still human. Ever since coming here I've felt strange, like my skin is not my own."
The air felt cold for a summer evening, the mist of the waterfall splashing down throwing dew drops into the brown and fading pink curls. Amber eyes rose up, "I also want to know if there could be anyone on this island that could possible send me this? If nothing can travel off, then this should be impossible. Is there another witch? Someone powerful enough to do this?" Perhaps Talbot was too trusting to just say so much so fast, but it was like the dam had finally burst.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - There she went, asking the questions. Of course, he already knew what he planned to take from her, but that wasn't important right now. He listened to each one of them, waiting until she was finished before he would start speaking to her again. He didn't want to deal with rudeness of interruption nor would he be the interrupter.
He was then in front of her, no longer standing on the rocks. No explanation could be given on how fast he'd travelled there- there didn't even seem to be a trail of energy left behind. It was like he had simply apparated into thin air. His fingers went to the letter, but he made no move to grab it, Instead, he began to pull the knowledge from it. It wouldn't render it useless to the girl, but he wanted his hands on the words the book contained. Now that he had stored it within himself, he could take all of his time that he needed to analyze it.
Then, and only then did he start answering her questions. "I'm afraid, dear, that your naivity has been preyed upon. What answers you seek will likely mean your end." He wondered if someone could feel so compelled to find out about their pasts they would put their lives at risk. Didn't mortals know it was better to live in ignorance sometimes than to know the truth? He had no desire to chase his own nightmares.
The witch shook her head. "There is a way. But it's best if you do not know. I would advise you to turn back now and live your life while you still can on this island." He was being completely serious. "There are no other witches on this island. We do not learn magic, we are born with it. ...And if we come within the same proximity, one of us will kill the other and steal their power. But witches were extremely rare as was, even on lands far more vast than Ivory.
"I can answer you one thing, however; you are a shifter. You can turn your body into that of an animal. That being resides within you. I would suggest finding a clan and joining it. They can teach you how to use your abilities." Lilith technically could, too, but he wouldn't.

The witch moved, he moved without Talbot seeing him do so, and now as close as he was to her the girls only reaction was to jerk back startled...a growl issued from her throat as she could feel all the muscles tense in her body, hair rising up on the back of her neck. It wasn't so much the sudden movement, but rather the hand that then moved towards her notes and letter. She'd nearly died for this, and she wasn't going to just let anyone grab it from her. Fingers gripped the papers tighter, her scribbled handwritting scrawled across book pages, ink circling notes in the letter itself, and that hand so close to it made something in Talbot want to tear it up, keep it all to herself.
At Lilith's cryptic warning Talbot shook her head, "I knew what I was getting into. I knew that trouble could come if I followed the letter. I came her for answers by any means possible." Ears perked up more, amber eyes growing wide, lips parted as if every part of her body was trying to swallow the information into her, consume it and know it inside and out. The warnings she knew too well, but she also was willing to set them aside for what she desired.
"I want to know Lilith. I've come this far, and have gotten to this island, and I can't rest peacefully till I--" Her argument stopped dead.
"A shifter? I'm one of those monsters?!" Eyes flashed, some part of her always knew that she wasn't normal, maybe not human...but after what had happened amoung the rocks she could not believe it just yet, "That's not true! I've never changed before. I would know if I was a bloody animal. I would know..." Talbot stepped in closer, breath a little quicker now as amber eyes grew bright, she did not mean any harm to Lilith, but slowly the beast began to push at the girl, weaken her to get at the one covered in her rivals scent. The beast recognized the power, but at the same time wanted to challenge it like any beast over territory would. The girl just stared at Lilith, shaking her head.
"There has got to be something else. You're wrong."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Lilith watched the girl as she struggled with her inner self. It was ironic, in a way. He had the information he needed, her payment for his answers. He could now see what was in her letters and books. The ink lifted was only in spirit. He didn't actually remove any words-- she wouldn't be able to tell he had done anything, in the end.
He tilted his head to the side calmly when she accused him of being wrong aobut her being a shifter. "Whether or not you believe it is up to you. A fact is a fact, you can't change that." He was done here, he decided. He didn't need to be told that he didn't know what he was talking about. This was why he hated to deal with mortals. They were always so difficult and so stubborn.
Then again, he was learning that the seven siblings, the immortals weren't so different, either. He turned from her and began to walk away. "Best of luck on your journey." he said, though he didn't seem to mean it-- then again, it wasn't said in sarcasm either. That was just how Lilith was. He was perpetually uninterested.
Besides, he had more important things on his mind right now, like the missing people.
