It had been a few weeks since he'd first set sights on his little kitten. Noah had seen the boy sitting under the tree, and had almost instantly sprung into action. Thinking back, he was glad he'd fed before bumping into Ciel, or the other boy may not have survived their meeting. The vampire had slipped into the tree above the little kitten, silent as a shadow, then slipped down and yanked the smaller male up and into the branches. A werewolf had come by, sniffing the air, obviously looking for something or someone. But then it had moved on. Noah was lucky that Ciel had remained quiet while the shifter had been nearby.
The vampire had then spent the rest of their meeting, running his hands over the smaller body, pressing his lips to those black, fuzzy ears, long fingers wrapping around the matching tail.
Afterward, he'd tossed the boy over his shoulder and looked for some shelter before dawn. He'd come upon a small hiding place in one of the larger trees, neared the centre of the island. Planks of wood made up the floor of the place, and thin branches were tightly interwoven to make the walls and roof. Noah had found it to be unique and quite interesting. The place didn't smell as if it'd held occupants in decades, so he claimed it as his own.
Over the last few weeks, he'd found blankets, feathers, and even wood and nails to make small furniture. Noah had begun to form his own coven, and they were adding up quite nicely. However, he did not trust any of them enough to tell them of his little haven. Only River, he'd told River. The boy had been his first fledgling on this island, and he'd proven himself to be quite loyal.
They had used wooden planks from the ruins in the village to add walls within the little structure that was now their own. There were now two bedrooms, and a main area. Noah had allowed River to use one bedroom, while he and Ciel used the other. A small Japanese-like table, low to the ground, decoated the main area, as well as a small shelf to one side, and a small tub that Noah had found beneath some debree. If they hadn't been supernatural, and therefore possessing innatural strength, bringing water up to this place would have been a difficulty. However, as it was, there was no problem. River had even stumbled upon a stream of water that emerged hot from the earth's core.
The little treehouse-like structure had become their home. Noah would now be almost completely relaxed while at home, almost completely off guard.
The vampire lay on the thick pile of blankets that he and Ciel shared, his almost naked body stretched out, no part of him displaying any sort of tension. It was almost nightfall, Noah was awake, but content to lay here a while longer. Where was his little kitten..?
"Ciel?"

River knew it was possible that he may not be ready for this. But he could not stay away from his master, while at the same time he could not leave Xiaodan unprotected ever again. So the simple solution was, to bring Xiaodan to where his master was.
He awoke while the sun was still setting, some of the red-orange light seeping into the microscopic cave he'd found for them. River had told Xiao that he'd become a vampire during his absence, and the other boy had been incredibly accepting. He felt his chest tighten at the memory and impulsively pulled the smaller boy closer to himself.
River was normally wild and standoff-ish. Yet with Xiaodan he'd barely shown that side of himself. Maybe it was because of the other boy's vulnerability? Maybe his instincts to protect Xiaodan had simply taken over and put that wild side of him to rest while he was in this boy's presence.
The feldgling sensed the blood pumping beneath Xiaodan's delicate flesh and he squeezed his eyes tightly closed. He then proceeded to go through the exercises Noah had taught him. River stopped his breathing completely --cutting off the other's scent-- then tensed the muscles of his stomach and moved so that most of his body weight pressed down on his own hip. The pressure and near pain, took some of the edge off the hunger.
He was however proving to himself that he had masochistic tendanceies, because after going through the trouble of easing some of the temptation, River opened his eyes and pressed his soft lips to the side of Xiaodan's neck. His entire body tensed, this time from something other than hunger, and he automatically moved a little closer.

Or rather, after Ciel was properly riled up from being molested, the vampire had simply taken him to some shelter and now, here they were. Ciel wouldn't have believed in vampires or werewolves or shifters or i/s or even that he would one day wake up with cat ears on his head and a tail stemming from his spine.
No, Ciel wouldn't have even known his name had it not been for a hospital bracelet he still wore around his wrist. He gown had been discarded when they'd ran across someone's forgotten clothes. Due to the blood nearby, it was safe to say that the human in these clothes was no more, so Ciel now wore the oversized hoodie and pants, though strangely he'd much prefer to go naked.
He couldn't run fast in his current garb nor could he climb trees without catching on the thick material. Maybe he'd be able to find some sensible clothes, but for now this would just have to do. It kept him warm and comfy. And to be honest, Ciel didn't think Noah liked him venturing out without him. It was dangerous in the world out there.
Right now he was sitting close to the exit, sitting and just waiting for River to come back. The fledgling had been out for awhile, longer than he'd been out before, and change wasn't really the best way to make Ciel feel comfortable-- he felt very uncertain that the boy was going to make it back in one piece if at all. He'd met so many scary things on this island that truthfully, he feared it.
And then-- his ear twitched. Did he hear his name? He stood up and bounded over to the make-shift bed. He couldn't really speak up well. So he just made a purring noise in his throat as he laid down beside the vampire and stretched out, offering himself for petting or nibbling- whichever Noah was in the mood for.

After River's disappearance, he'd lost his temporary home- the cave behind the waterfall- to a group of shifters. He had been too scared to go back, he'd seen too many half-eaten corpses on this island to feel safe while there were monsters around. He didn't know the full extent of the monsters on this island, but he had had close encounters with quite a few vampires and shifter customers during his time working as a prostitute.
Well, rather, during his life. It wasn't as if he really got paid for what he did. But as long as he didn't complain and satisfied customers, he wouldn't be beaten or kicked out onto the streets. Sometimes the promise of a warm bed and food was too important to pass up. And sometimes, you just didn't have a choice. As Xiao knew too well, if you pissed off the wrong customer, you could easily wind up dead in your bed.
Xiaodan had tried to hide in the forest, which is where he had been for the two months since he'd lost his new friend, that is, until the boy reappeared. River had just walked back into his life, unharmed. It had made Xiao cry tears of joy- after having lost his best friend to death a few years beforehand, he was scared that he would have lost a second the same way.
And now River was telling him that he was a vampire. Although it was shocking news, Xiao didn't really care what type of creature River was. He was just glad that he was safe and alright. Afterall, that's what friends were for, right? He smiled as he felt the nose against his neck and arched into the touch. "Morning..."

A pleased smile spread over the vampire's lips when his lover slipped onto the bed beside him. An arm curved around the smaller male while the other reached up to pet over Ciel's ears. He loved those ears, and that tail. They'd caught his attention when he'd first seen the other boy. However they had become far more interesting when he'd learned what it did to Ciel when he touched them...
His fangs extended a little at the mere though of it, and a soft but deep laugh rumbled from his chest. Noah was amused at his own reaction. He'd had this boy as his companion for some time now, yet he hadn't become bored. It was curious. Quite unsual for Noah, a vampire with centuries of life behind him. Centuries' worth of lovers...
All of them had bored him at some point.

Amusement at Xiaodan's greeting was enough distraction for now. A soft laugh left the fledgling vampire's lips, "It's evening, silly..." He felt such affection for the other boy, it worried him at times, and other times it made him smile...
It was all quite strange, but River was content for now. He placed a soft kiss on the other's jaw, then allowed himself to stretch. The red-gold light of the sunset was slowly retreating from the entrace of the cave. Soon enough River could leave the hole in the ground without being weakened by the sunlight. He would have gotten them moving earlier, but he wanted to be as strong as possible, just in case he had to protect Xiaodan and himself from any threat...
"Did you sleep well?"
The words reminded him of that fact that he and Xiaodan would be sleeping on the pile of blankets he had to himself in Noah's home. This brought him to smile a little, fangs peeking out from his lips. The other boy's proximity had excited him enough to make the sharp little teeth pop out of his gums. And he hadn't noticed!
