Shinji yawned, having spent the entire night prior fixing up the hut he found on the edge of the village. He had needed to thatch a new roof and that had taken quite some time. Good thing he was an old vampire and knew how to place together the large leaves so that the roof wouldn't leak. He also had found some clay that he could use to patch the holes in the stone wall with. It was a quick fix but it would hold up for now. Long enough for him to find something better should he have to.
It was enough to keep away the sun and that is what he wanted. And also why he had filled in the holes for windows. He had made sure that the sun would be unable to get in. Even the door was secured tightly so that there weren't any cracks for even a sliver of light to get in. Once inside of the place with the door shut it was completely pitch black. It was just the way that he liked it. The way the night was supposed to be.
He stared at his handiwork now that he had the following night to himself. He certainly didn't think it looked too bad for a quick fix up. Especially not with how it had looked previously. The vampire sucked on the blood packet that he had with him. Somehow the plane had malfunctioned and he had ended up here. But at least he had packed blood on himself so he wasn't starving. Not that he knew this would happen. No, he had packed for the overseas trip.
A hand reached up to play with the locket around his neck. The other was still out there and he knew it. But it would seem that the other had moved on. Satsu had never sought him out as he had figured would happen. But then again it wasn't like the other wasn't old enough to be on his own. For all he knew Satsu could have been happy to get out from under him. To be allowed to find himself and be his own vampire.

So many flames blazing through the night sky that it almost seemed like it wasn't night at all. It almost seemed more like day time. The pain that had been searing through Satsu's heart as he stood there watching the flames engulf his house was what he supposed pain from stepping out in the day would feel like. It was consuming, and still was even to this day. Eventually pain turned into bitterness, and bitterness never moved away from everlasting longing.
Not only was it a blaze of fire that night, but it was also a blood thirsty massacre. Satsu had killed that night for the first time with the intention of merely killing without feeding. He had killed in order to avenge his lover. At least, he was doing what he thought was avenging his lover.
The five hundred and fifty-four year old vamprie stood in the middle of the abandoned village. He was standing there almost motionless, the moonlight washing down on him and giving him a somewhat ephemeral glow of angelicism. Satsu sighed deeply, his dark brown eyes gazing up at the moon. Even now, almost four hundred years later, Satsu still mourned the loss of Shinji. He'd never tried to find the other because he'd been convinced Shinji had perished in the fire. He couldn't feel their bond, and he'd tried desperately to feel it.
Long fingers slowly clasped about the locket that'd hung around his neck for hundreds of years, sliding about the pattern engraved upon the metal. In the time that he'd been on his own Satsu had changed immensely. He had allowed the bitterness to consume him, to morph him into a vampire that had welcomed hatred towards almost everyone. He wasn't happy, and he hadn't been for a very long time.
Dropping his fingers from the locket, Satsu finally began to move through the village.

The place felt to be missing something but he wasn't certain just what it was. It was enough to sleep in and that is what really mattered. But still there was that nagging feeling. The feeling that had him turning and heading into the village to see if he could look around and figure out what it was that he didn't know. Maybe if he spotted it then it would come to him. He would realize just what he was missing.
Fingers stayed upon the locket as he took a leisurely stroll around the village. He had the night ahead of him and nothing that he had to accomplish. Not even hunting since he had a blood packet that he was currently sucking from. But he about choked on it and had to cough and sputter when the sudden sensation of a close bond hit him. He could feel it in the tightening of his chest, it was Satsu. But why after so long? Had he come to flaunt?
Without even realizing it Shinji had stopped walking and was just staring straight ahead without really seeing. Satsu was here and that was all that he was registering at the moment. Just the thought of it had him frozen. He wasn't certain if he should be ecstatic for a reunion or devastated because Satsu had most likely moved on. Who could blame him when it had been a few centuries since they had last seen each other. As he was trying to make up his mind as ot what to do and feel he just stood in place and gripped the locket tighter.

The vampire had taken to living in one of the many saves on this island during the day time. It was deep enough so that when Satsu retreated to the very back of the cave, it was pitch black. Not a single sliver of light shone through. It wasn't exactly the most comfortable place to live but this was an island without resources after all. And now he had wandered quite far from his "home", in search for the perfect meal. He'd fed a few days ago and wasn't exactly starving, but what else was there to do on an island like this? However things were proving to be a bust. It seemed that there really wasn't much life in this village, at least not right now. He paused as a sudden surge of energy rushed through out his entire body. It was enough to coax a small gasp out through his lips, brown eyes widening. Satsu's chest was beginning to tighten and a feeling that was both familiar and distant began to run through his spine like cruel wind. It felt like.. Well, it felt like Shinji. But that couldn't be. Shinji was dead. As Satsu stood rooted to the spot for a few more minutes, he became more confident that this is what Shinji's presence felt like. It bewildered him, calmed him, and yet a sudden panic settled within his chest not even two seconds later. Without thinking, Satsu rushed forward, following the feeling that was tugging at his chest like an invisible rope. The vampire followed it around a decrepit hut, his gaze instantly falling upon his maker. Satsu halted dead in his tracks, eyes widening, staring at Shinji in disbelief and wonder. How was this possible? He couldn't feel Shinji before.. not when the fire was blazing through their home, and not when he went back days later. Was this some sort of hallucination? Was the island playing tricks on him? Satsu looked very different from how he looked when he was with Shinji. Whereas his hair had been long and wavy, now it was cut short and straight. It had been a difficult decision to cut his hair, knowing that it wouldn't grow back because his body was technically dead, but he'd gone forward with it anyway. Now he could barely find his voice, his former lover's name coming out in a bare whisper. "Shinji.."click for satsu's hair when he was with shinji

The man that rounded the hut didn't resemble the man that he remembered. Yet that strong feeling was still there. This was his Satsu, he could feel it. It had to be. The other knew just who he was. Just hearing his name had him smiling. It broke him out of the trance that he had been in. Had him closing the distance between them. "Satsu... You've changed your hair." The words were spoken quietly as he reached out a hand to try to play with the other's hair. The short hair certainly would take some getting used to. It didn't look bad per say. It just wasn't what he was used to.
"I've been waiting for you. I've missed you. How have you been?" Shinji didn't realize that Satsu's hair wasn't the only thing about him that had changed. It was why his hand immediately went to try to lay against the other's hips. He sought to lean in for a kiss just as he always would have done. A gentle smile rested on his lips since he didn't know any better. He simply thought that Satdu had finally gotten around to coming and finding him since he didn't see anyone else with the other vampire.
"I see the years have treated you well. You look barely over a hundred." He complimented the other. Satsu looked really good for his age. Still entirely alluring. "You want to come in?" He motioned to the hut where the rest of his blood packets were being stored. "We could have dinner. Granted it is the packaged type." He was trying to reconnect with Satsu, offering up an invitation to allow for it.

That was Shinji's voice. It had been so long since he'd last heard it that he had almost forgotten what it sounded like. Now, in that instant, everything came flooding back to him as it had so many times over the past few centuries. The two of them smiling, laughing, crying together. They had fought, especially when Shinji was trying to teach Satsu to read and write. But it was always alright in the end, and usually had ended up with a passionate moment shared between the two of them.
All of these things were swimming around inside of his head, clouding his mind. For a moment he stood there, staring at the vampire he had assumed to be dead all of these years as he advanced. When Shinji placed a hand upon his hip, Satsu felt that long forgotten stirring within his chest and heart. He allowed the kiss, lips too shocked and too confused to respond but he allowed it just the same.
Why was Shinji speaking to him as if nothing had change? Suddenly, Satsu's eyebrows narrowed into the most unpleasant glare. He shoved Shinji away from him, though not too harshly, taking a step back. "What the fuck is going on?" Satsu had never sworn when he was with Shinji. "Do I want to come in?! Have dinner?! YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD!" He shrieked the last sentence, panic rising within his voice. Suddenly he looked a little less stable, as if he were to blow up and cry all at once.
Had Shinji led him to believe a lie for all this time?! "This isn't possible. I'm dreaming.." The panic was all too apparent as the vampire looked away, hand instinctively reaching up to clasp about that locket. It was his comfort blanket.

Shinji looked confused as he was shoved away. What was going on? Satsu had never acted like this before. Or used such language either. Shinji just stood there in shock. He had no idea where the sudden outburst had come from. What had prompted it or any of that. "Well yes, and so are you. I thought that had already been established in the beginning." Was it a sudden regret at having been turned? Could that be what was going on with the other. "You don't like being like this anymore?" It was the only answer that he could think to come up with. Why else would Satsu bring up being dead?
He wasn't at all certain what was going on with the other. He was acting strange. Maybe he really did have someone else. Shinji reached up a hand to touch his locket, thumb gently caressing it. He was completely confused as to just what was going on. He couldn't remember Satsu having ever talked to himself before. But then again the words didn't sound like anything that would be spoken to him either. "What is going on Satsu? You are confusing me." That was certainly an understatement if there ever was one. "If you have found someone else you can just say so."

He wasn't fooled by the cute little answer of "we're both dead, Satsu!" either. The vampire's eyebrows narrowed, seeming both incredulous and genuinely fearful at the same time. "What are you talking about?! Don't be stupid, Shinji! I'm talking about the eternal death!"
He took a few steps back now, his free hand beginning to curl into fists at his side. His temperament was teetering dangerously on anger now. The hand that held his locket was beginning to clasp about his roughly, his knuckles turning even more white than they already were. "Of course there's no one else! Tell me what's going on, Shinji! You died in that fire!" Then suddenly, it dawned on him. "You.. faked your death. You ran from me!"
Now the anger within him was much more apparent than any other emotion that was coursing through his veins. The expression on his face slowly twisted into something hideous. "I can't fucking believe you.." How could Shinji have faked his death?! How could he have left Satsu all alone like that?! Maybe Shinji was truly the one who'd found someone else and now for whatever reason, he wanted to pretend like nothing had happened.
He ripped his hand away from the locket, seeming disgusted with it. "You're a fucking monster!"
