She awoke as if from a pleasantly deep sleep, her empty and impressionable young mind embracing the new day's bright sun above her with complete innocence. The tall grass and wildflowers tickled her caramel-colored skin and caught wisps of her curly blonde hair. Lifting one hand up to block out the blinding sun as she opened her eyes, she saw that there was a slip of laminated paper looped around her wrist. She sat up and looked at it curiously.
"Fe-li-ci-ty Mon-a-han," the girl sounded out the words printed on her wristband. That was her name, wasn't it? It rolled off her tongue more easily than the rest of what was written there. "0.057, Sheep Mix." She had no idea what that meant.
The paper bracelet was a pretty robin's egg blue color, so she kept it on. Then she noticed she was wearing a hospital gown of the same shade. It tied in two places at the back but still left her butt exposed. She thought of taking it off, but she couldn't think how to untie it and so just left it on. The thing that bothered her, as she tried to stand up and failed, was her feet. They were hooves. Their surface area on the bottom wasn't designed for supporting the weight or musculature of a humanoid. Every time she tried to stand, she fell back down again. Finally, she just gave up, tears streaming down her chubby-cheeked face in frustration.
Felicity had no idea where she was, or even who she was beyond her name. Was this a place that should be familiar to her? Did she live in this meadow? She felt like she could, but nothing registered in her brain one way or the other. It was like being plopped down randomly somewhere as a newborn with no preconceptions or memories. She hoped someone would come along and explain things to her...
