• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • It was night, and that's all he could say he knew.
Cool, but powerful waves swept over his body, saltwater pouring into his eyelids which were shut so very tight, and into his nostrils from which he no longer needed to breath. He was unconcious, and the blood pouring from his head was proof of it; Fresh, of course, as it was already mending itself, as every cut seemed to do for him now on. It closed in on itself as the last drop of scarlet blood ran down his face, washed away again by the water that danced so rhythmically across his ivory flesh. His eyes opened up bloodshot, lit up like a christmas tree, it's forest green glow the only thing to illuminate the dark night. He was hungry, and if there was a god, he now thanked that he was at that particular moment; he couldn't imagined what he would have done had it just been a few seconds shy.
Drowsily scanning across the beach, his mind started back up, and not as fast as he wished it could have been. He was now left to think with his eyes and his ears, and what his senses painted wasn't a picture he liked to look at; He feared that maybe, he wasn't exactly in kansas anymore. No, looking at everything, he was in a harsh wasteland, and he could smell that sweet blood was rooted deep within the island. It wasn't the place anyone would choose to be, but he knew he was stuck here forever more. moisture hung in the air, and though it was cool at the moment, he knew come morning that the fucking demon in the sky would have to make it's return, and it would be hotter than ever. Just my luck, he thought, oddly accepting of these new conditions. It would be nice to be away from sweden for a little while, away from his parents. away from Mir...
A frown crossed his face, and his eyes went dry, just begging for the boy to allow them to weep oh so freely. He knew, even though he said it, he didn't want the boy to leave, no matter how annoying he got sometimes; even if he seemed to have a permanent stick up his ass, Mir was his to deal with and he wouldn't trade him for anything in the world, despite not caring to admit it. His gut twisted around, and his heart felt hollow, and the only good thing about it was the useless organs had finally served some kind of purpose. He bowed his head, as he fought against the waves and daggering stones, when he caught it. The slightest scent of Mir, and his eyes lit up so bright as he tried to find it. He hoped it was something more than just wishful thinking, and he pushed out all the bad thoughts that tried to clog his mind. For these couple of seconds, he had hope. Utter hope.
In a blur of movement, he broke the surface of the crashing waves, landing facefirst into a bed of sharp rocks, and the water stained red and pooled around him. He shrugged off the pain, disregarded that horrible, annoying feeling of pure pain as liquid salt seeped into his wounds, and his skull now riddled with cracks. It didn't matter, it didn't affect him as he grew numb to it, and the only pain in him was the dread that he wouldn't be able to find his brother. Hands wavering over the shallow bottom, his fingertips finally brushed against the rubber sole of his brother's shoes, and he pulled with all his strength against the tide that wanted to tug-o-war against him. Finally, his brother's body emerged, and he held the boy's petite body in his arms, as he ran up to land with it, soaked in the dripping water as he injuries struggled to heal once again.
laying him across a smooth rock, one of the few that decorated the rough beach, his mind swarmed intantly to school, and one of the few times he actually went instead of simply skipping class in favor of a joint, or just a little blow. He remembered the dummy, and how disgusted he was to have to share it's plaster lips with the others, and the crude jokes at it's expense his friends made. he pressed his cold, stiffened lips to Mirth's own, pushing out all the air from his lungs he could possibly muster up; Sweet oxygen he knew that seemed to be essential to all species he knew of, and whatever Mirth belonged to, he needed it more than him. He could hear the boy's heart beat, sure, but he couldn't take the chance and have him die on him. He wouldn't know what to do if he did, and he wouldn't want to live, knowing he'd be alone on this fucking island. No, he knew he couldn't.
The boy's blood resumed it's normal pace, and sweet little gasps for air escaped his mouth, little spurts of water escaping his throat followed by wet coughs. Sure, it wasn't the best thing that one could wish for, but atleast he was breathing, and though he'd say otherwise, this was all he wanted. A single, blood-red tear escaped it's way down his cheek, leaving it's maroon trail down his pale skin; it said so much, happiness, fear, love, but most of all, uncertainty. Though a smile still refused to grace the boy's face, he couldn't resist the urge to wrap his brother's weak body in an embrace, though, even if he had yet to return to full conciousness. He was glad his brother wasn't completly awake yet, so he may have atleast this moment of weakness, invisible to Mir's ever-watching eyes.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • It was hard to say exactly what had happened. He had been running after his brother in the water when they'd been pulled under by a strong tide. Mir had sensed that it was a bad idea to be playing so far out in the water, and his parents had warned him against it. They'd told him that playing out could be dangerous, they'd told Nik to take good care of him and watch out for him...
The boy was jolted back to reality quick sickeningly. He coughed up the salt water and wiped at his mouth and nose. He had blood on him from where he had bled, but unbeknownst to him, in the moment of crisis Israfel had awakened and protected his mortal shell. Mir was Israfel, they were one in the same- but he didn't know he was, he didn't know that his brother who whom he was supposed to be guarding, didn't know that'd why he felt such a draw to him.
He felt air being pushed into his lungs and began to cough up the bitter salt water. There was a weight on him, a weight that couldn't be lifted. He gasped.
His brilliant blue eyes opened to take in the night sky. The moon was full and high up, the stars shone brightly. A smile crossed his face- was this heaven? No... the aching muscles told him it wasn't. If it was heaven, he wouldn't be in any pain, right?
But the scent of his brother was warm and familiar. He rested a hand at the boy's neck and smiled. "Brother..." he didn't think that his brother would appreciate the touch, but he could sense that the other was a bundle of emotions. They were somewhere unfamiliar... and they were both injured. Mir's human shell was bruising already. An ugly, purplish bruise was forming on his cheek, another along his arm.
He was cut and scraped up. The only reason he hadn't bled out was due to his powers, powers he didn't even know existed. His mission was unfulfilled. As long as he could keep Nikolaz out of harm's way, he would be on that mission.
Mir's slender arms clung, then, around Nikolaz's neck. He was scared, terribly, terribly scared. "Where are we... This isn't home..."
[/b] he didn't want to pull away, didn't want to be pushed away. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • As Nikolaz felt his brother stirring in his arms, his heart jumped in his chest in both exictement and astonishment; He was almost sure the boy wouldn't make it, not understanding that being an angele, he was never really in any real danger. That movement alone, gave him enough hope, as a smile drew across his face for the first time in a long while, something he was sure a concious Mir would have liked to have seen. At the moment, he was starngely willing to show him, tell him anything, as long as he knew the boy would be okay.
Even hearing the boy's voice seemed to cast light on the admittedly dark situation, as he held him close to his ear, trying to hear the words he ahd to say; wondering, hoping they weren't his last. He didn't give him an answer right away, as he felt himself wrapping the boy's weak, limp body around his, jsut happy he was alive. There were so many things swarming through his head, a mix of the good and the bad. He pcitured his brother teasing him about this moment, years later, ona summer day on the docks in the good parts of Genva...SO much was wrong with his vision, he knew that, knowing his eyes would never meet the firey orb in the sky again. Mir, in a way, was his only constant light through the night he was now doomed to be stuck in. He had made so many mistakes, he knew that so much, all in a desperate attempt to possibly steal attention away from his little brother, just to see if his parents would notice him...drowning out his sorrows in tobacco and alchohol he didn't want, his tears hidden behind a tough exterior and closed doors. He supposed it all had to come out sometime, and now was just as good as it ever would be.
His brother's question ringed in his ear, and he wasn;t sure how to answer it, the boy in total ignorance. He had no idea where they were, just now paying attention to the darkneed surroundings. Sand and salt water stung at his cuts as they tried to heal, and his sniffles died down. Looking fdown at Mir, he knew he deserved some kind of answer, sadly, Nik couldn't porvide him with a good one. The light died down in his eyes, that last bit of hope escaping. "Hell." , he laughed, though the situation was ahrdly funny, it was nice to throw a bit of humor in to clam himself down. Looking around, it wasn't too far from the truth; The remnants of homes stood in a small village just beyond the beach, and only a few souls could be heard across the island, very few of them sounding inviting. Nik was hardly one to be scared, but it was ahrd not to; The revolting stench of decay wavered over them, and he felt sick. His stomach growled, as he struggled not to rip open Mir's neck and drink the delicious insides. Biting his lips, he hissed out. "Let's go find somewhere to stay for the night.", Nik said, looking sternly at Mir, as he dropped his head from his lap. ATleast things would go back to normal.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Mir listened as Nikolaz spoke. Something told him that they wouldn't be making it back home. There was something about this island that was haunting... and he didn't like it. Of course, he didn't have much time to think as his brother stood up and his head hit the hard rock. "Ow," he whimpered softly, but he was used to his brother's atttitude. He knew that Nik had a good heart somewhere, but he just didn't show it. He was grateful for the small amount of affection his brother had showed, but of course he didn't think it would be in his best interest to tell his brother that.
Instead, he sat up and pushed himself up to follow Nikolaz. He had caught the stern look and knew that the moment of tenderness was over, but it was moments like that that he knew that his brother loved him, even if he wouldn't say it or show it. He just smiled softly as he walked slightly behind him. Perhaps there would be some people there that could help them out. He didn't think they'd be getting off any time soon. He didn't see any ports, piers, or any signs that people came out here to relax, which was a little unnerving truthfully.
"I think we can make the best of it!" the boy smiled, trying to keep the air positive and upbeat. But he knew that his brother was going to probably snap at him, but if he wasn't optimistic, he didn't know who would be.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Nikolaz's heart fell heavy, and one could practically hear the cracks ehcoing through the unbeating thing as tears died down and hsi mouth was forced into a frown he simply could not right away. A simultaenous realization, that they would never find their way out of this place. A tinge of childish fear shot, through him, but it was quickly overcome, not by actual courage, but the by the overwhelming need of it. Fear hung in the air too thickly, and if they didn't start being brave now, hell, they'd choke on it while the island ate them alive. They needed to be strong, and he could tell that on Ivory, there was no place for weak people. ALl they could do is forget about their pasts and live on, and part of Nik was glad that it was with Mir, if anybody. As bad as he treated him, bruising him up, he couldn't help but feel genuine love towards him; Not the kind that resided commonly among siblings and family, no matter the fights they got in, but genuine love. With it came heartbreak, lsut, anger, and adoration. He couldn't help it, and he knew how wrong it was, but it felt so right despite everything.
His eyes darted quickly, like a sudden flash of lightning, down to Mir as he heard the sound of his legs rubbing against the shore as he neared closer to him. Normally, the getsure would have been responded with a punch to hsi shoulde,r but right nwo, it was welcomed. It was always welcomed, really, but his false persona of a rude boy with humor dark as inkstains didn't allow him to admit it. But there was no one watching, no one to impress or try and fit in with. So he wrapped hsi arms lightly aorund Mir's head, pushing it up to his chest, hsi soft hair felt like silk on his cold skin. Hormones beckoned to him to go further than that, as he fought to control his hands, which was quite the hard acomplishment for a teenage boy such as himself. He didn't know what attracted him so much to hsi brother, his Asiatic features painted upon a voluptous, almost femine figure; But other people ahd started taking notice that each and every one of Nik's little girlfriends looked bizarrely like his sibling. It was barely a scret anymore; One more month in Geneva and everyone would have known.
His brother's voice burst open, so clsoe to him, stinging his now-sensitive ears that could ehar a pin-drop from miles away; Either way, ti certainly wasn't a pleasant sound for him. On instinct, he raised hsi fist up and began to swing, but quickly clamed himself as his fist was about to connect into the boy's widened eyes. He let out somewhat of a giggle, both to ease the situation and the fact that it was a bit funny. Atleast the kid was trying to lighten the mood. Gripping by the legs, he lifted the boy up as he made his way towards the darkned huts, notably absenst of any witch.
